Remembrance Day in Canada

Remembrance Day There’s an important day on November 11 th which is  Armistice Day also known as  Remembrance Day .  It was a day I’d never heard of before I came to Canada.  When I was at the mall in Toronto, the soldier gave me a red flower called poppy to honor the soldiers. This action brought up my interest to research it.  This is a day to commemorate the soldiers who died in World War one and it also marked the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France at 5:45 a.m. In addition, the use of the poppy on Remembrance Day was inspired by the first lines of John McCrae’s poem, “ In Flanders Fields ” . This makes me think of the soldier at the mall has given me the bookmark with the poem on it. After reading it, I think it is a beautiful poem and it touches my heart.   On this day,  we went to Cenotaph to honor the soldiers who fought for the Canadians and sacrificed themselves for their country.
